The Prime Minister reached the old Parliament House and greeted the MPs and then paid homage to the Constitution.
The meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party is going on in the Central Hall of the old Parliament (Samvidhan Sadan). In this, Narendra Modi has been elected the leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party for the third time. Rajnath Singh proposed Modi’s name for the post of Prime Minister, which was supported by 13 constituent parties of the NDA.
All 293 NDA MPs, Rajya Sabha MPs and Chief Ministers and Deputy CMs of all states are present in today’s meeting. BJP President JP Nadda gave the welcome speech. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the name of Narendra Modi for the post of Prime Minister. Amit Shah supported it and Nitin Gadkari seconded it. JDS President Kumaraswamy supported the proposal.
After this, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, an important constituent of NDA, said – We congratulate everyone. I have seen during the election campaign that PM never took rest for 3 months. He started with the same spirit and ended with the same spirit. In Andhra, we held 3 public meetings and 1 big rally and this made a huge difference in winning the election.
JDU chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said- I support Modiji’s name. I wanted him to take oath today itself. It is a matter of great joy that he has been PM for 10 years, now he is going to be PM again. He served the country, whatever is left, he will complete it now. Next time when you come, then those people who have won here and there, no one will win.
According to sources, after the NDA meeting ends in the Central Hall of Parliament, the leaders of the alliance will stake claim to form the government today itself. Modi may take oath as Prime Minister for the third time at 6 pm on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is reported that the entire cabinet may take oath along with Modi.
The first meeting of the NDA was held on June 5 at 4 pm at the PM residence. 21 leaders from 16 parties attended the one-hour meeting. All of them elected Modi as the leader of the NDA. But in today’s parliamentary party meeting, Modi will be officially elected as the leader of the NDA.
He had submitted his resignation to the President on Wednesday itself. The President accepted his resignation and dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha. However, Modi is the caretaker Prime Minister until the formation of a new government.
BJP has got 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. This is 32 seats less than the majority figure (272). However, NDA crossed the majority figure with 293 seats. Apart from BJP, NDA has 53 MPs from 14 alliance parties.
In the alliance, Chandrababu’s TDP is the second largest party with 16 seats and Nitish’s JDU is the third largest party with 12 seats. Both the parties are important for the BJP at this time. It is difficult for the BJP to form the government without them.
Narendra Modi started his speech with Bharat Mata Ki Jai. He said- First of all, I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders of the NDA constituent parties present in this hall, all the MPs, our Rajya Sabha MPs too.
It is a matter of happiness for me that I have got the opportunity to welcome such a large group today. The friends who have come victorious,
He deserves congratulations, but the lakhs of workers who worked day and night, neither saw the day nor the night, I bow my head and salute them from this Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan.
Friends, I am very fortunate that you have unanimously chosen me as the leader of the NDA and given me a new responsibility. I am very grateful to you for this. I feel responsible in my personal life.
When I was speaking in the House in 2019, I had emphasized on one thing- trust. Today, when I am once again given this responsibility, it proves that the bridge of trust between us is so strong that this unbreakable relationship is based on trust.
