US President Donald Trump has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said in a social media post that Putin is playing with fire. Trump’s statement came after the ongoing air strikes on Ukraine.
He said that if he had not been there, something very bad would have happened to Russia. According to a CNN report, Trump is considering imposing new sanctions on Russia by the end of this week.
While talking to reporters on Sunday, Trump also talked about increasing the sanctions. During this, Trump also said that Putin has gone completely crazy.
In fact, on May 24, Russia carried out the biggest air attack on Ukraine in 3 years, after which Trump has been openly criticizing Putin. Russia attacked Kiev with 9 ballistic missiles, 60 cruise missiles and 298 drones.

The Russian attack killed 13 people and injured dozens.
Former Russian President said- only the Third World War is a bad thing
Former Russian President and currently Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has reacted strongly to Trump’s statement. He said that I know of only one bad thing – the Third World War. I hope Trump will understand this.
US lawmakers increase pressure on Trump for sanctions
Republican Senator Chuck Grassley has demanded tough action to send a message to Putin that the game is over.
At the same time, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal have also demanded sanctions on those countries that are purchasing Russian oil, gas and raw materials.
Russia’s allegation- Ukraine wanted to kill Putin
Russia has claimed that Ukraine tried to shoot down President Vladimir Putin’s helicopter. According to Russian Air Force Major General Yuri Dashkin, Putin visited Kursk on 20 May.
Dashkin said that during this time the Ukrainian Air Force attacked Putin’s helicopter with 46 drones, but we shot down all the drones. Dashkin said – We fought several drones simultaneously and ensured the safety of the President’s helicopter.
Putin visited Kursk for the first time after the occupation of Ukraine
Kursk is the same place where the Ukrainian army suddenly attacked in August last year and captured 1100 square km of area. This attack was very special because for the first time since the Second World War, a foreign army attacked Russian soil.
While visiting this area, Putin said that now this land is once again under Russian control. He also ordered to send more soldiers to remove the landmines so that people can return to their homes.
However, Ukraine says that its army is still stationed in that area and the fighting continues. Ukrainian President Zelensky said that his army is conducting a campaign against Russia in areas like Kursk and Belgorod.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Kursk on 20 May.
Russia-Ukraine to exchange 1,000 prisoners each
Russia and Ukraine exchanged 1,000 prisoners in the biggest prisoner swap in the three-year-long war. US President Donald Trump said the swap could mark a new phase in efforts to reach a peace deal between Moscow and Kiev.

After release, the people who reached home were welcomed by their families.
On May 16, 4-point talks were held between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul
- Prisoner swap: Following talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on May 16, the two countries agreed to swap 1,000 prisoners each.
- Ceasefire: Ukraine had demanded a 30-day ceasefire, but Russia did not accept it. Russia put a condition that Ukraine will have to completely withdraw from four regions (Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kherson), in which about 11 million Ukrainian citizens live. Which Ukraine rejected.
- Peace agreement: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that both countries are ready to meet again, but no new date has been set. Russia has talked about giving a draft of the peace agreement to Ukraine.
- Control over territories: Security guarantees and sanctions were discussed between the two countries, but no consensus was reached. Russia demanded control over Crimea and other occupied territories, while Ukraine insisted on protecting its sovereignty.
Know why the Russia-Ukraine war started
February 2022- As soon as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the attack, Russian tanks started entering Ukraine. Then US President Joe Biden said – There is no plan to negotiate with Putin. He has put the whole world in danger. Russia will have to pay a serious price for the attack on Ukraine.
February 2025- America’s new President Donald Trump spoke to Putin on the phone for 90 minutes. After this, a high level meeting was held between Russia and America in Saudi Arabia regarding the Ukraine war. Ukraine was not included in it. Trump praised Putin and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a ‘dictator’.
May 2025- Peace talks to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine accelerated in 2025, especially after initiatives by US President Donald Trump. Prisoner swaps have taken place in recent days, but differences remain over territorial control and security guarantees.
