Social media influencers, content creators and podcasters will now also be included in the President’s press briefing at the US White House. They will also be given space in the press briefing room. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has given this information.
The decision is aimed at giving new media outlets a place in the White House for press briefings. In his first press briefing on Tuesday, Levitt said,
Millions of Americans, especially young people, are turning away from traditional television and newspapers to get their news through podcasts, blogs, social media and other independent platforms.
Levitt said that we want to convey the President’s message to as many people as possible and want to make the White House suitable for the media of 2025.

Leavitt is the youngest (27) White House secretary to become president.
Website launched for registration of influencers
The White House has asked independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers and content creators to register. A website has also been created for this: whitehouse.gov/newmedia . From here, one can apply for credentials for press briefings.
The people who register will be checked by Levitt’s team. The selected people will be subjected to a Secret Service security check. After this, they will be given press credentials.
The seat reserved for the Press Secretary’s staff in the press briefing room will now be known as the New Media seat.

Credentials of 440 journalists to be restored
Press Secretary Levitt said that the Trump administration is planning to restore the press passes of 440 journalists. The credentials of these journalists were revoked during the Biden administration.
Speaking about his first briefing, Leavitt said,
I am proud to be the youngest press secretary. I am opening this room to new media so that the President’s message reaches as many Americans as possible.
Media outlets like Axios and Breitbart also attended the press briefing. Levitt first answered their questions. Earlier, they did not get a place in the briefing.
