Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had claimed on June 1 that Home Minister Amit Shah is threatening district collectors by calling them. Election Commission took cognizance of the matter on Sunday and asked Jairam to give the basis of this claim and share the details related to it. In response, Jairam said that the way Election Commission has been working, it cannot be trusted.

EC said- such statements create doubt: Election Commission said in a letter to Jairam Ramesh that all officers report to the Election Commission during the implementation of the code of conduct. Till now no DM has given such information as you are claiming. The process of vote counting is a sacred duty, which is entrusted to every Returning Officer. Such statements of yours create doubt on this process, so this statement needs to be taken into consideration.
